Serigraphy or silk-screen printing is the stencil method of printmaking in which inks are pressed through the fine meshes of a taut fabric screen onto a piece of paper or other material  beneath the screen.

A NY Times reporter at a WPA exhibition in the '30s coined the term serigraph to distinguish this fine art process from its better known commercial usage.
